US Bank Accounts for Non-US Residents
Presently the only type of US bank account, which may be opened from abroad, is a business checking account. In order to qualify you must:
- Possess a valid passport
- Be willing to travel to the nearest US embassy
- Own at least a percent of a US business
- Have a physical US address
Possession of a valid passport is required for identification. Photocopies of the passport will be kept on file at the bank.
It is also essential to travel to a US embassy based in your country of residence or neighboring country. During the process you will be asked to make an appointment at the nearest US embassy.
You must also own or own a percentage of a US business or be willing to establish ownership in one. If you have not yet established a US based business we can provide this service. We can also refer you to other companies, which provide this service.
Lastly the bank will require a physical US address. This cannot be a P.O. Box must be either a commercial office space or a residence. If you do not have a physical US address we can also provide this as part of our service.
